Nature at FMA

Flora on our Grounds

We are especially blessed with a wonderful stand of live oaks called a 'mott' at the front of our property. These trees are at least a couple of hundred years old. Our First Day School children led by Anna Malcom, measured these trees and calculated their value using the National Tree Benefit Calculator during a lesson in August 2010. The attached document documents their work.

For Earth Day 2012, Belle Zars compiled a list of the major tree species on our property and led a nature walk around the site during forum. The attached document summarizes key facts about these species and their value to our property.

Fauna on our Grounds

On Saturday morning, May 26, 2012, Jude Filler and Erika Mittag spotted a grey fox near the driveway between the upper and lower parking lots near the yellow portable. It appeared to be a nursing mother.
