COVID-19 Update Jan 17, 2021

This information is current as of 10 am, January 17, 2021.  Things are changing rapidly so please check our COVID-19 page as well as your state, county, city sources frequently.

Vaccination

The COVID vaccine is available in our area but is in short supply. You may have to try multiple times before you can get a scheduled appointment.

If you are a healthcare worker, contact your employer. If you are a long-term care resident, contact your caretaker.

Otherwise, if you are 65 years of age or older or over 16 with at least one chronic health condition or pregnant you should be eligible for the vaccine.  Previously eligiable persons were encourage to get their vaccinations through providers such as clinics such as ARC, pharmacies like CVS and grocery stores such as HEB.  But currently only the designated vaccination hubs are taking appoints.

Austin

Austin area residents should register with Austin Public Health. Start at this web site:

Austin Public Health COVID-19 Testing & Vaccination Pre-Registration

After you click on the preregister link and fill out forms, you'll create an APH login that you can use in the future.  When you log in you may use your email address as the user name, but you may have to append ".aph" to the end.  E.g.  "user@gmail.com.aph"

If you are eligible, you will get a list of available locations and appointments.  However, if the display does not show anything it means that there is insufficient vaccine supply to offer appointments.  Check back frequently.  You can go directly to the scheduling through: https://covid19.austintexas.gov/s/

Once you get an appointment we hope you'll find, as others have, that the process is well organized and efficent - good news so far.

If you cannot access testing or the vaccine because of problems with transportation, internet, email, or computers please call 512-972-5560
