Several items of news and information have emerged that may be helpful to those in the Austin area who are looking to complete their COVID-19 Vaccinations.
Registering for a vaccine appointment
In addition to the vacination hubs managed by Austin Public Health several other providers are ramping up. Where possible, you should preregister. Don't be shy about registering with multiple providers. These are listed on our main covid information page or check this KVUE article for a recent listing of other sources:

Geting a First Dose Appointment with Austin Public Health
APH has announces changes in their appointment system. All appointments for the week will be released on "Monday Evening" additional appointments may be released on "Thursday evening." The following news release from APH describes the new system and lists important tips for scheduling.

Getting your second dose
APH intends to notify first dose recipients of their second dose appointments directly via email, phone or text. However there have been some glitches in this process. APH released a flow chart via Twitter that explains how to make sure you will get your appointment.

APD says you should not attempt to sign up for a first dose appointment in order to receive your second dose. However, if you can, it is perfectly aceptable to get your second dose from a different provider such as a pharmacy, as long as it is the same vaccine.
